My partner and I recently closed on a condo in Arlington, VA, and we are truly very grateful to have had Calvin and Drew (from Compass/Babbington) with us every step of the way! Calvin and Drew are both incredibly knowledgeable about the real estate market, extremely responsive, and highly professional. They helped us book and view property listings quickly, which allowed us to find the right property without delay. As we were first time home buyers, they provided very detailed and thorough answers to our MANY questions (sometimes late at night and even over the weekends), along with strategizing on getting out a competitive and attractive offer. They helped make the process flow seamlessly, such as recommending a home inspector who was immediately available, which was key to our request for seller's credit. Further, we cannot stress all of the behind-the-scenes work as well. For example, our Lender was requiring information from the condo board a few days before closing, which was stuck at an impasse, and Calvin and Drew helped us to resolve; we may not have closed without their help. The title company they recommended was very responsive and communicative as we approached closing, and used a convenient electronic portal that allowed us to keep track of their progress and information required from us. One tip (entirely unrelated to Calvin and Drew) to other first time homebuyers is to shop around for a Lender. We were quite surprised to discover that there can be some big differences in rates and Lender fees. First of all, let me say that Sarah has a great attitude and an extremely great personality. Sarah helped us find and lease a beautiful fully furnished apartment in Dupont Circle area in just a couple weeks! We are thrilled and very grateful for her help. We bought a new construction which had way more paperwork and came to find out that it was 90% written to favor the Builder and once they got your deposit you never heard from them again.
